Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The Churchill Road Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is one of our greatest assets. The PTA coordinates most volunteer opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, after-school enrichment programs, community gatherings like the parents vs. teachers basketball game and movie night, and supplements supplies needed for teaching programs.
The PTA relies on all parents to get involved with their children’s education in some way, and this makes for a more advanced education and stronger community. Please take time to browse the PTA website and consider how you can best contribute.

Stay Connected with Churchill Road
Parents are encouraged to volunteer at Churchill Road ES. For specific classroom opportunities, parents can contact the classroom teacher or parent liaison. Tasks may include working with students, helping with art projects, performing clerical jobs, and preparing instructional materials. Additional volunteers are needed for the Churchill Road library, where assistance is needed to shelve books and more.
Other volunteer opportunities include:
Artist Workshop is a CRS PTA program unique to Churchill Road where parents bring the world of art to the classroom. The children enjoy a brief art appreciation lesson with a hands-on art project. Each prepared lesson ties directly to their curriculum. Often the highlight of the week, it is a great way for parents to connect with students, while exposing them to a whole new facet of history, science, and math. Is it easy? Yes. Do you need to be an artist? Nope. Is it fun, memorable, and fulfilling? Absolutely. Please sign up and give it a try.
Room Parents help coordinate class parties, special events, and parent volunteers. Each classroom may have more than one room parent.
All volunteers are required to stop at the main office to sign in and receive a badge to wear when visiting the school. We do not permit younger children, friends of students, or students from other schools to visit classrooms except with the principal’s approval.
The Churchill PTA coordinates many volunteer opportunities that take place either during the school day or in the evening.
FCPS also offers several ways for people in the community to get involved.
Volunteer Opportunities with FCPS
Background Checks for Volunteers
FCPS Cares is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees.
Business and Community Partnerships
The Business and Community Partnerships office’s primary functions are to recruit and supports Ignite Partnerships, serve as a liaison to local Chambers of Commerce and other community organizations, help lead the annual Collect for Kids school supply drive, manage the FCPS Donations Portal for donated goods, and promote the Savings for Staff merchant discount program.
In the last decade, the Business & Community Partnerships team has helped secure over ten million dollars in donations of money and valued goods through partnerships and direct donations, not including the value of volunteer hours contributed by partners and mentors.
Distribution of Community Fliers
For the 2017-2018 school year, the weeks of October 2, December 4, March 5 and May 14 have been designated for the distribution of fliers and newsletters to Churchill Road students by non-profit organizations.
Please note that all fliers must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance for the principal to review and contain the following disclaimer: "These materials are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, or this School."
These fliers must be related to the school’s educational mission and be age-appropriate. Once approved, the organization will be required to make the copies necessary for distribution. Questions? Contact Kim Moran at @email.
Additional information is available regarding regulations governing community flyer distribution.
